... and I got dumb robots without finding any way while trying all options to speak to a live person...

Hi Mark, yes, they are really hard to contact lately, it is a huge annoyance trying to contact them - I just tested this method and it works . . .
Open this link:

Click 'Contact Support'
Type 'Speak to a real person' in the resulting box
Choose Office Activation - Activation issues - Product key does not work . . .
You will then be given the opportunity to speak to support staff . . .

Are you sure the product code has been scratched off properly? Sometimes the protective adhesive is not scratched off completely and a character is missing or misinterpreted.
If you still can't activate the suite, please contact support and they will be able to investigate and determine whats the cause.

Thanks for providing me with a few fix-ups. Unfortunately the local support telephone number (South Africa) is only 'maned' by robots. I tried all the options but I am going nowhere.

I checked the key number several times and I am sure that I am not misinterpreting the written code.

I was scratched from a card 'Office Home & student 2019' that I bought at the local Apple dealer.

I think I should rather have bought the software on-line from the MS store, especially that it costed 22 US$ cheaper! Just too bad :-)

I'll return on Monday to the Apple dealer with my laptop and after a few tries if he does not succeed I'll ask for a refund and buy on line.

This is definitely a MS problem. Somehow the card key was not entered in their database.
